Hoping for Linux plug & play (like my Scarlett 2i2 had)Ĭapture, playback & alsamixer (at least) should work Here's one item that is nice to have but not required: one headphone output with low latency direct monitoring.one hardware loopback configured via routing - as described above.-> a couple more inputs would be nice to have but not required.-> (two combination inputs would be good and most devices seem to offer this).-> at least one 1/4 inch TS input w/preamp.-> at least one XLR input w/mic preamp. Here are the full features of what I'm looking for: I know some smaller interfaces have limitations as far as how many I/O can be used simultaneously. I'll be using the two analog inputs along with the outputs and the loopback at the same time. If no smaller device offers this, then I can live with connecting a digital cable such as to SPDIF IN from SPDIF OUT as a last resort, provided the unit can operate properly with the SPDIF I/O and the other I/O active at the same time. I'm looking for that feature in a smaller portable USB self-powered interface. I'm told that larger interfaces let you set up a loopback in the routing software and then save that configuration to the hardware. The way I have done it in the past is to use a cable from the SPDIF OUT to the SPDIF IN. I need a small USB audio interface that will let me set up a loopback.
